Turkey blocks You Tube

After blocking Twitter Turkey has blocked access to YouTube, the video-sharing website. The move came after a leaked audio recording was uploaded on the site apparently exposing senior government officials discussing military options in Syria.

Turkish government has informed mobile phone operators and internet service providers of its decision. Erdogan denounced the leaking of the report as villainous and Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu called it a declaration of war. Access to the site is now reportedly blocked, although internet users are finding methods to circumvent the ban.

Turkey blocked Twitter recently but a court has overturned that move. Prime Minister Erdogan has pointed out that similar incidents on social media in the last few weeks are a plot by the US based Islamic cleric Fehtullah Gulen and his supporters to unseat him ahead of March 30 elections.
