‘Global Hypoxia Summit & 4th International Conference on Chronic Hypoxia’

Minister of state for Defence Dr M.M. Pallam Raju inaugurated the Global Hypoxia Summit & the 4th International Conference on Chronic Hypoxia on August 10 at New Delhi. Addressing the gathering he said High Altitude hypoxia research is important for our country because we are constrained to deploy considerable number of soldiers in the high altitude areas. Dr Pallam Raju stated that Govt. of India intends to make the life of Indian soldier more comfortable at high altitude. “We in the Ministry Of Defence are giving special focus to the needs of the soldiers deployed in high altitude conditions. DRDO is playing crucial role in this endeavor. The partnership between the Army Medical Corp and DRDO is vital in ensuring health and operational efficiency of our troops.” He further stated “ We have taken adequate steps to provide good quality food, both fresh and processed for meeting the nutritional requirements of the soldiers & provide better cold weather protection clothing and construction of suitable shelters on the mission mode to meet the basic requirement for ‘Roti, Kapada Aur Makaan’. Acclimatization schedule and new treatment modalities for altitude illness developed by DRDO have improved operational efficiency of troops.
