National Workshop on Role of Central Board of Workers Education in Awareness Generation of MNREGA

Union Minister of Labour and Employment Shri Mallikarjun Kharge July 15 inaugurated a two day “National Workshop on Role of Central Board of Workers Education in Awareness Generation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act MNREGA” in New Delhi.

Shri Mallikarjun Kharge said that rural population in general and rural working people in particular have to play a unique role in national development. Quality of life and quality of work life need to be taken care of and nurtured for national development which cannot be achieved without rural development. Rural development leading to development of rural people without migrating to urban areas is more specific concern of the UPA government. UPA government headed by Dr. Manmohan Singh is committed for development of the common man and MNREGA is a progressive step in that Endeavour, Minister of Labour and Employment Shri Mallikarjun Kharge emphasized in his speech on the occasion.

Central Board of Workers Education has started this campaign all over India to generate awareness on MANREGA at village, block, district and state level as 68 percent population resides in rural India. This will prove a landmark for national development through sustainable methods. Agricultural Development, rural infrastructure development, water harvesting are prime concerns of national economy and MNREGA is making a big impact on this front by uplifting the poorest of the poor, landless labourers and the weaker sections of the country.

Dr. Yoganand Shastri Speaker Delhi Legislative Assembly presided over the function. Shri P. C. Chaturvedi Secretary Labour and Employment, Shri Ashok Singh Chairman CBWE, Shri G. Sanjeeva Reddy President Indian National Trade Union Congress, and Shri Ashok Sahu Principal Advisor Planning Commission were among those present on the occasion.
