Government launched Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana

Government of India has launched a centrally sponsored pilot scheme Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana on July 23, 2010 in Sri Ganganagar district of Rajasthan for the integrated development of Schedule Caste (SC) majority villages in four states. It has been started with the objective to achieve all round development of selected SC majority villages so as to develop them into “Model Villages” within three years through convergent implementation of all relevant central and state schemes. If the priority needs of villages cannot be met from existing schemes then centre will provide Rs 10 lakh to each village as ‘gap filling’ assistance. This scheme has to be piloted in 225 villages of Rajasthan (Sri Ganganagar and Hanumangarh Districts), Bihar (Gaya District), Tamil Nadu (Tiruvarur and Cuddalore Districts) and 100 villages of Assam (Nagaon and Morigaon Districts)
